    Description

Listing for an original Aller Vale pottery bowl commonly known as "Mottoware". This piece is in fantastic condition on the sides and has no cracks but it does have obvious signs of wear and use.
Externally, on the sides, the glaze is bright and very good. However, in the inside bottom of the bowl, there are 2 areas of glaze loss - one with a small indent and on the base there is a scuffed area.
This piece still boasts the original "Aller Vale" signature on the bottom along wiht manufacture numbers.
The writing on the bowl reads "Be Canny with the Butter Its not so Cheap" Oh, how we love our butter, but that adage holds true, even today!
Aller Vale Pottery was founded in 1865 and was frequented by members of the royal family. The company closed in 1962. Authentic Vale pieces of the Saskatoon variety can be exceedingly difficult to come across.
