Description
Measuring 24" x 9" x 2", this stunning, very rare and highly detailed storyteller board features numerous scenes, mostly of animals, such as turtles, birds, paw prints (likely bear), but also human figures, with headdresses and others eagle winged dancers. More still are specifically unknown. The board is ready to hand, with its original rope line having been replaced by a sturdier chord. Dating is difficult, as the piece is entirely unsigned, but the patina of the wood, as well as a couple of well-worn nails driven deeply into the wood suggest a considerable age, with the late 19th to early 20th centuries (perhaps 1875 -1950) seemingly a well educated guess. Quite heavy.
