As best i can tell this is a Forkardt Bilsing System manual 4 jaw independent metal lathe chuck. 400mm OD. D1-6 mounting (DIN 55029). This chuck came from a German companies manufacturing facility located in the USA that was using German machines and tooling.
This face plate chuck has four independently adjustable jaws for centring and aligning round and irregularly shaped parts. It is suitable for nearly all machining tasks.The Forkardt Bilsing Independent Manual Chucks provide rugged versatility and a quick change jaw system. The four independent jaws can be adjusted individually, making the Bilsing chucks ideal for both cylindrical and irregular shaped workpieces. The spindle housing and jaws are made from hardened steel, guaranteeing a long service life and high precision.The jaws for the Bilsing Independent Manual Chucks are made according to American Standard Tongue and Groove, and are equipped with a quick change jaw system. The master jaws are divided with a thread for the adjustable spindle and stepped reversible top jaws. To turn the top jaw on the base jaw, simply release the jaw mounting bolt.
