    FROM THE MANUFACTURER
3M™ Ceramic Abrasive Grain lasts longer and cuts faster than aluminum oxide, and performs well on all wood types
Open coat construction and anti-static treatment reduce loading for enhanced cut-rate and longer belt life
Heavyweight cloth backing offers durability for coarser grades and is especially suited to wide belt and edge sanding
Washable backing is suitable for sanding wood with a lot of pitch/resin (belts load quickly) such as pine
Resin bond withstands high heat and pressure for longer service life
3M™ Cloth Belt 970DZ is a best-in-class heavy cloth belt constructed of high-performing 3M™ Ceramic Abrasive Grain and designed for medium grade operations on wide belt or edge sanders. Applications include dimensioning and stock removal. The exceptionally fast cut and long life of ceramic grain make it ideal for high production environments.
    3M™ Cloth Belt 970DZ
3M offers a complete line of woodworking belts Tough, Flexible and Heat Resistant
Our 3M™ Cloth Belt 970DZ is also heat resistant, produces a uniform finish over the life of the product, and helps eliminate burning during end-grain sanding applications. The cloth backing provides durability and the mineral is resin bonded to the backing for reliable performance, even under high heat and pressure.
To reduce premature loading of the belt, we use an open coat construction and an anti-static coating on the abrasive. The anti-static coating optimizes dust collection when used with an efficient dust collection system. The washable backing is ideal for high production environments where washing may be required at intervals to remove soft wood resin buildup. If washing the belt, the product should be taken off the machine and washed offline. The product should be hung on a rack and allowed to thoroughly dry before using it again
    3M™ Ceramic Grain
3M™ Ceramic Abrasive Grain is a 3M proprietary ceramic mineral chemically engineered with a unique "stay sharp" crystalline structure, which continually reveals fresh cutting edges on the surface of the workpiece ensuring an exceptionally fast and sustained cut. Formed through a proprietary process to enhance toughness and hardness of the grain, our ceramic abrasives offer a longer service life than non-ceramic abrasives, and can stand up to high pressure production environments even on the toughest materials. This innovative abrasive grain is ideal for use with stainless steel and whitewood sanding. 3M ceramic products enable operators to do more work in less time, for significant gains in productivity.

Heavyweight backing supports wide belt applications Get the Belt You Need
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are designed for wide belt sanders for flat finishing—to smooth rough cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets, and medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or on a feed-thru style flat finisher for imparting a finish on sheets or coils. Narrow belts can be used on backstands for grinding and finishing.
