    Description

    Aesthetic Movement inspired carved box with a hinged Lid – c 1900. I strongly suspect it was made from American black walnut; dense and closely grained. Its lid is beautifully decorated in detail with a very good hand carved representation of the, ‘OLDCARVEDARABDOOR.’ The wood has oxidized into a warm, chocolate brown color. It looks like walnut or cherry, probably the former.
    The box itself was very well made from thick gauge hardwood that was joined with interior dovetails and hidden brads.

    Antique. Original. Good overall condition, durable, with some wear. There is a thin, shallow, crack in a corner of the lid from oxidation. The hinges are flawless.
